50-stündiges Nonstop-Happening mit DIY-Kochstelle und offenen Türen: Kochen, Essen, Einmachen – und Einmischen!
Das serielle Format ist ein Nonstop-Happening, dem die Kritik an künstlerischen Arbeits- und Produktionsbedingungen inhärent ist. Vor Ort wird ergebnisoffen zugleich produziert, präsentiert und reflektiert. Was die permanent anwesenden Künstler:innen miteinander verbindet, ist das soziale Potenzial ihrer Arbeitsweise sowie der von den Kuratorinnen eingebrachte thematische Impuls. Dieser eröffnet spekulative Gegenerzählungen, um Etabliertes zu unterwandern und Marginalisiertes zu konturieren. Von der ersten Stunde an haben Besuchende die Möglichkeit, sich in das Geschehen zu involvieren, etwa durch gemeinsames Kochen.
Der aktuelle Impuls (de-domestication) vertieft unsere oftmals versteckte Beziehung zu pflanzlichen Intelligenzen und möglichen (nicht)-humanen Kohabitationen. Mit investigativen Absichten wildern sich die zehn beteiligten Künstler:innen aus und solidarisieren sich mit der Widerständigkeit der Natur. Während 50 Stunden wächst in der Froh Ussicht eine Eco Social Sculpture, die ein experimentelles und regeneratives Kohabitat erprobt: «Undoing normal categories» (Donna Haraway).
WHAT’S COOKING? kooperiert mit der Ausstellung «Expanded Fields 2025: Erde/n» und startet mit einer Performance des Zürcher Chors «Lyre Choir».
The series is a non-stop happening that inherently critiques artistic working and production conditions. Production, presentation and reflection take place on site on the same time with an open outcome. What connects the present artists is the social potential of their working methods and a thematic impulse introduced by the curators, which opens speculative counter-narratives to subvert the established and outline the marginalised. From the very beginning, visitors could actively participate, i.e. by cooking together.
The current impulse, (de-domestication) deepens our often-hidden relationship with plant intelligence and possible (non-)human cohabitations. With investigative approaches, the 10 participating artists break free and show solidarity with the resistance of nature. Over the course of 50 hours, an eco-social sculpture will grow at Froh Ussicht, with which we will test an experimental and regenerative cohabitation: ‘Undoing normal categories’ (Donna Haraway).
WHAT’S COOKING? is collaborating with the exhibition‚Expanded Fields 2025: Erde/n‘ and kicking off with a performance by the Zurich choir ‚Lyre Choir‘.
